“Healing In Forgiveness”
By Pastor Bill Hayden
05/01/2024
From the moment Adam and Eve sinned against God’s will, to the first death and after that, we struggle to manage our brokenness. Not one person hasn’t crossed the line with another human being, no matter how much love they have for each other. The brokenness of the human spirit runs rampant throughout every socioeconomic group worldwide.
Relationships are most challenging when we fail to recognize our brokenness and seek help, especially when becoming healthy requires forgiveness. As much as we want perfection in ourselves and others, we are all vulnerable and fall short in areas that may be critical in supporting another person’s trust.
To bring healing for our brokenness would require the perfect remedy to be accessible to everyone simultaneously. Since the problem began with one man’s sin against God, it would require one man to rectify the origin of our brokenness. It would be that sinless and pure person to become the scapegoat to take upon himself all of humanity’s brokenness. Only The One who knew no sin, was willing to become sin for us, allowing God’s wrath to pour upon him… God’s only Son!
When the sinless one was covered with all the sins of the world, God didn’t call for an army of angels to save him. He chose to give up His Son rather than give up on us. What kind of love is it to give up your one and only Son to save those who were your rebellious enemies? Indeed, a love not of this world!
Regardless of what you’ve done, it’s not too late for your healing! Irrespective of how far you’ve fallen, it’s not too late! It doesn’t matter how big of a mistake; accept His forgiveness, let it go, and be free!
What makes a Christian a disciple of Christ is not perfection but forgiveness. “Christ had no sin, but God made Him to be sin so that in Christ we become right with God.” {2 Corinthians 5:21}
